The Unknown 9: Awakening trailer is currently facing backlash, and the reason is easy to predict. Sweet Baby Inc. is involved, and gaming fans are resisting because of it. At least, that is what most people say. On a personal level, I believe that most people simply do not like what they see from the trailer. In fact, the like-to-dislike ratio would reflect that. When I last checked, it had two thousand likes and ten thousand dislikes.

I cannot comment on the quality of the game because I have not played it yet. The reason why I wanted to cover the negative reception to the trailer had less to do with the game itself, but rather with how developers and creators have reacted to some not liking The Unknown 9: Awakening trailer. Most new games that are released today will have forums and gamer hubs. Here you can discuss what you like and do not like about a game. The Unknown 9: Awakening is no exception to this.

They also have gamer hubs on Steam and elsewhere that are supposed to be open for discussion. When fans discovered that Sweet Baby Inc was involved with this game, they decided to make their opinions heard on the gamer hubs on Steam. As you can imagine, those involved with this title did not like that very much. The Steam Forums, where you should be allowed to openly discuss this title, have been completely purged of any negative comments.

They also went a step further and removed any reference that gamers made about Sweet Baby Inc. At this point, about 90% of comments have been removed. That should tell you how resistant people are towards the game.

Unknown 9: Awakening And How Not To Respond To Criticism

It goes without saying but banning people from having an opinion on a product is a very bad look. At the end of the day whether it is Sweet Baby Inc or a game studio, you are delivering a product or a service. Once you have opened your product or service to the public, they are allowed to discuss it. They are also allowed to not like it. People have plenty of reasons not to like what Sweet Baby Inc does. However, they do not need any reasons.

They can simply not like them. As a consumer of their products and services, you should be allowed to speak freely. If you want to make the argument that you do have the right to speak about the service that they deliver, but you do not have the right to do that on their forums and gamer hubs, then you might have a point. However, I would be careful about making that argument.

If we expect gamers to make informed decisions on what to buy, reading comments underneath trailers or on official Steam spaces where the game is for sale makes the most sense. If you believe that the negative reception to the game is unwarranted due to a misunderstanding about what Sweet Baby Inc. does, then that is fair. However, you still can’t simply prevent people from discussing what they dislike. Even if you, as the owner of the space, have the right to do so, it still makes you look bad.

Conclusion

Sweet Baby Inc. goes out of its way to hide its involvement in any game. I thought that they would be proud of their work. I understand that on an individual basis, you might not want your name out there, but as a company, you should stand proud. As for Unknown 9: Awakening, well, you get what you get. I would hope that the developer would learn from this, but sadly, I do not think they will. They will likely just blame conservative white men again and just produce more garbage moving forward.

However, they do have the right to produce what they want and you have the right to decide if you want to consume it.
